Zoom's hidden Anthropic stake could be worth a quarter of its market cap

Zoom $ZM invested ~$51M in Anthropic in May 2023, acquiring a ~1 to 1.3% stake at the time. Anthropic's valuation was around $4 to $5B.

The latest funding round for the company developing the Claude LLM occurred at a valuation of $800B+. Zoom's stake has been diluted through multiple rounds of investment, but still remains in the 0.6 to 1% range.

This means the stake could be worth roughly $5 to $8B, approximately 1/4 of Zoom's entire market cap.

Zoom's business has been growing at barely 3 to 4% per year since the pandemic ended, yet this well-timed investment in Anthropic could very well lead to a revaluation of Zoom following the AI company's IPO.
