The market for AI server processors could grow about 6x by 2030, from $35 bn last year to $210 bn.

$AMD is BofA’s top CPU pick.
During the AI training era, data centers used about one standard processor (CPU) for every four graphics processors (GPUs). GPUs did most of the work.
AI is now shifting from training models to agents that book trips, make purchases and run searches. These agents require much more CPU capacity to coordinate their work. BofA expects the ratio to move closer to one CPU for every GPU. Companies will continue buying GPUs while adding more CPUs alongside them.
AMD’s next server chip will have up to 256 cores. Intel’s competing chip will have 192, while Nvidia’s will have 88. More cores allow one processor to handle more agents.
BofA expects AMD’s server CPU revenue to rise from $10bn in 2025 to $65bn in 2030.
